January 25- February 4th, 2020— Join David Hatcher Childress and Jennifer Bolm for a comprehensive trip through the megalithic cities of Mexico, visiting major megalithic sites in central and southern Mexico. David is one of the stars of Ancient Aliens (History Channel) and has a unique view on ancient Megalithic Mexico.
Day 1 - January 25
Arrival in Mexico City. Taxi pick-up at the airport. Overnight Hotel Geneve Ciudad de México. Mexico City is an amazing place with ancient sites, museums and shopping. It has had thousands of UFO sightings, discoveries made under its streets and still has an Aztec observatory in a subway station! We will stay at the upscale Geneve, located in the tourist-friendly Zona Rosa. (https://www.hotelgeneve.com.mx/en/)
Day 2 - January 26 Visit anthropological museum and the historical Templo Mayor. We visit the Anthropological museum where will see several Olmec heads, the ‘Aztec’ sun stone and original Maya codices. Continue on to visit the historic center of Mexico City, the Zocalo. Here we see the excavations of the Templo Mayor, which was the heart of the Aztec capital Tenochtitlan. When the Spanish took over they built a massive cathedral at the site, now one of the oldest and largest in the Americas. Overnight at the Geneve Hotel
Day 3 - January 27
All Day Trip to the Pyramids of Teotihuacan. Teotihuacan boasts the spectacular pyramids of the Sun and Moon plus the fantastic pyramid of the ‘Plumed Serpent’ or Quetzalcoatl. We walk the Avenue of the Dead, climb the pyramids and explore this mysterious site whose builders are as yet unknown. Overnight at the Geneve Hotel
Day 4 - January 28
Fly to Oaxaca City.
We check out of our hotel, go the airport and fly to Oaxaca City. Later we stroll down the well-maintained, picturesque historic streets to the main plaza in town. Overnight at hotel Casona Oaxaca. (http://www.lacasonaoaxaca.com)
Day 5 - January 29
Monte Alban. All day visit to the megalithic site of Monte Alban, known as the Zapotec capital, located on a mountaintop that has been purposely flattened. The structures have been rebuilt and reoccupied over the centuries from officially 500 BC. There is evidence of early use of the dot and bar calendars in some of the inscriptions, and it seems that the early Olmecs built here. Debate over the age of this site has been ongoing, with estimates ranging from 100 AD to 7000 BC!
Day 6 - January 30
Tule and Mitla. All day visit to the megalithic, highly decorated site of Mitla, sometimes compared to the palace of Knossos on Crete. In our travels, we will also stop at the ancient, huge Sacred ‘Tule’ tree, associated with Quetzalcoatl. Overnight at hotel Casona Oaxaca.
Day 7 - January 31 Our last day in Oaxaca to shop in the market, visit museums or simply hang out in the cafes by the central plaza. The large market has many stalls selling finely-tooled leather goods, silver items, colorful clothing, and local-made mole sauce. Overnight at hotel Casona Oaxaca.

We depart Oaxaca city by minibus and drive the scenic route of MEX175 over the spectacular Southern Sierra Madre mountains, ending up in the coastal towns of Puerto Angel and Puerto Huatulco.
